4.2 Segregation of Packaging Waste

  1. Segregation Process:
    • Segregate packaging waste at the source of generation using color-coded bins:
      • Yellow: Plastic packaging
waste
  • Blue: Paper and cardboard waste
  • Red: Metal packaging waste

    • Ensure bins are emptied regularly to prevent overflow.
  • 4.3 Handling and Storage of Packaging Waste

    1. Temporary Storage Guidelines:
      • Store packaging waste in a designated waste storage area that is secure, ventilated, and protected from moisture.
      • Ensure separate storage areas for different waste types to avoid contamination.
      • Stack cardboard and paper waste to maximize storage efficiency.

    3. Labeling of Storage Containers:
      • Clearly label storage containers based on waste type and category.
      • Include details such as “Plastic Waste,” “Cardboard Waste,” or “Metal Waste.”
    4. Safety Measures:
      • Ensure personnel wear PPE (gloves, masks) while handling packaging waste.
      • Avoid storing combustible packaging waste near heat sources.

4.4 Disposal and Recycling of Packaging Waste

Packaging waste must be disposed of or recycled in accordance with its classification:

    1. Plastic Packaging Waste:
