Standard Operating Procedure for Pest Control

Purpose

Responsibilities

  • The Pest Control Officer is responsible for coordinating pest control activities and ensuring compliance with pest management protocols.
  • The Facilities Management Team is responsible for implementing physical measures to prevent pest entry and maintaining the cleanliness of the facility.
  • All personnel are responsible for reporting any signs of pest activity or potential pest entry points to the Pest Control Officer or management.

Procedure

  1. Preventive Measures:
    • Implement preventive measures to minimize the risk of pest infestations, including regular cleaning, sanitation, and maintenance of the facility.
    • Seal entry points, such as gaps in doors, windows, and walls, to prevent pest entry into the facility.
  2. Pest Monitoring:
    • Conduct regular inspections of the facility to monitor for signs of pest activity, such as droppings, nests, or damage to property.
    • Place monitoring devices, such as traps or bait stations, in strategic locations to detect and capture pests.
  3. Pest Identification:
    • Identify the type of pests present in the
facility and assess the severity of the infestation through visual inspection and monitoring data.
  • Consult with pest control experts or entomologists to identify pests accurately and determine appropriate treatment methods.
  • Treatment and Control:
    • Develop a pest control plan outlining treatment methods, including chemical, biological, or non-chemical control measures.
    • Implement pest control treatments in accordance with regulatory requirements and manufacturer instructions, ensuring the safety of personnel and products.

    • Maintain detailed records of pest control activities, including inspection reports, treatment logs, and pest control product usage.
