1) Purpose

2) Scope

This SOP applies to all HVAC systems and filters installed within the facility premises.

3) Responsibilities

The Facilities Management Department is responsible for implementing and adhering to this SOP. The HVAC Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance on HVAC filters.

4) Procedure

  1. Filter Inspection and Replacement Schedule
    1. Develop a preventive maintenance schedule for HVAC filters based on manufacturer recommendations and operational requirements.
    2. Inspect filters regularly for dust buildup, damage, or signs of wear.
    3. Replace filters according to specified intervals or when they no longer meet efficiency requirements.
  2. Filter Replacement Process
    1. Turn off HVAC system power before beginning any maintenance work.
    2. Remove and dispose of old filters properly.
    3. Install new filters according to manufacturer instructions, ensuring correct orientation and sealing.
    4. Record filter replacement date, type, and location for documentation.
  3. Filter Performance Testing
    1. Conduct performance tests on newly installed filters to verify airflow and efficiency.
    2. Adjust HVAC system settings if necessary to optimize filter performance.
  4. Documentation and Reporting
    1. Maintain accurate records of filter inspections, replacements, and performance tests.
    2. Document any issues encountered during maintenance and corrective actions taken.
  5. Training and Safety
    1. Provide training to HVAC technicians on proper filter maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
    2. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements during maintenance activities.
