Standard Operating Procedure for the Transportation of Finished Products

1) Purpose

2) Scope

This SOP applies to all finished products, including eye drops, ointments, gels, and inserts, transported from the pharmaceutical manufacturing facility to distribution centers, warehouses, or customers.

3) Responsibilities

The responsibilities include the preparation, loading, transportation, and documentation of finished products. Warehouse personnel are responsible for preparing finished products for transport. Logistics personnel are responsible for the safe transport and handling of finished products during transit. Quality assurance personnel are responsible for ensuring compliance with transportation procedures.

4) Procedure

4.1 Preparation for Transport

  1. Verify that finished products are properly labeled and packaged according to the product specifications and regulatory requirements.
  2. Inspect the transport vehicle to ensure it is clean, dry, and free from contaminants.
  3. Ensure that the vehicle is equipped with temperature and humidity control systems if required for the finished products.
  4. Record the details of the finished products to be transported in the inventory management system, including the date, quantity, and batch number.

4.2 Loading of Finished Products

  1. Use appropriate material handling
equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks, to load finished products onto the transport vehicle.
  • Ensure that finished products are securely placed on pallets or in containers to prevent movement and damage during transit.
  • Check that the finished products are arranged in the vehicle to maintain proper temperature and humidity conditions.
  • Seal the transport vehicle to prevent unauthorized access during transit.

    3. Verify that the quantity and condition of finished products match the shipping documentation and inventory records.
    4. Record the receipt of finished products in the inventory management system, including the date and condition of the products.

    2. Record the details of the shipment, including the date, quantity, batch number, and destination, in the inventory management system.
